  Baptism on Fire

  going through justin martyr's dialogue with trypho yesterday, i found a variation on the baptism scene :.

  88. and let this be a proof to you, namely, what i told you was done by the magi from arabia, who as soon as the child was born came to worship him, for even at his birth he was in possession of his power; and as he grew up like all other men, by using the fitting means, he assigned its own [requirements] to each development, and was sustained by all kinds of nourishment, and waited for thirty years, more or less, until john appeared before him as the herald of his approach, and preceded him in the way of baptism, as i have already shown.

  and then, when jesus had gone to the river jordan, where john was baptizing, and when he had stepped into the water, a fire was kindled in the jordan; and when he came out of the water, the holy ghost lighted on him like a dove, [as] the apostles of this very christ of ours wrote.

  Does this have any connection to the classical elements of earth air fire and water.

  Greek philosophy and Astrology also used these four elements, and like many other things have these been adopted and grafted into religious beliefs.

  here is my story of becoming a missionary after having kin suen (pronounced “shin”) as my circuit overseer.

  my father wanted me to go to college, but since he wasn’t a witness, i knew he just didn’t understand how close we were to the end.

  i had actually become a circuit overseer!

  old light / new light is a primary doctrine of jehovah’s witneses.

  when they abandon on old prophecy or change a doctrine, they characterize this as “old light”.

  The average fundamentalist Christian is so indoctrinated and psychologically invested in the literal interpretation of the bible that they can't see the deception that is so obvious to outsiders.

  Earth created in 6 days.

  Adam and eve story some 6000 years ago.

  Worldwide flood story never happened.

  Exodus from Egypt never happened

  No independently verified evidence of a miracle worker called jesus.

  Domestic violence is a criminal offence in the uk and has been for many years, physiological manipulation and coercive control became a criminal offence in 2019 .

  When I told the elders that I had been in contact with a domestic abuse agency for men they were shocked and disgusted because I had informed a worldly organisation and told them that I was recommend strongly to leave after the first call.

  So any victim should be encouraged by the watchtower and the elders to contact the police and a domestic abuse agency ,but off course they won't do that, prayer and bible study can fix it, you can't bring reproach on jehovah's name and the organisation.

  Perpetrators of domestic abuse DO NOT change.

  Male and female victims are abused in equal numbers, the issue has been that many men didn't or wouldn't admit that they were victims.

  Yes in articles such as these it should read HE /SHE many domestic abuse agency now do this on information posters etc .

  Why Did God Create Us?

  If you believe the bible story god is a narcissistic control freak who introduced a unfair test on Adam and eve, knowing that they would fail ,so he could introduce the concept of sin in which he has used as a weapon to exercise control over the offspring of Adam and eve.

  And then he sent his son/ self to give his life as a ransom in order to repay himself and then uses his death and resurrection as a means to again exercise his control over people and holds that over people today, like holding a gun to someone head .

  If you fail to agree with him and recognize that you are a sinner and come under his control you will suffer eternal torment.

  So If you believe that the bible is true you were created to be controlled by a narcissistic control freak.

  the theme of my recent comment in another thread demonstrated how in some circles the 'word/logos' had become understood to be implied within ot texts that mention an angel or destroyer (in the case of ex 12).

  Some due diligence from biblical scholars, not just a matter of faith but on the evidence of their decades of independent research, some if not most were evangelical Christian at one time.

  The life expectancy at that time was around 40-45 years.

  The apostle were described as unlettered and ordinary men, which most likely meant they didn't have access to schooling.

  False accusations of flirting and affairs, included sister's in the hall that we had known for many years.

  That i was not a good husbands, father and never worked hard enough,

  Limited contact with my parents and my siblings, even though they were jws

  Controlled my mobile phone even stopped me having one for a while and access to my tablet.

  What I watched on tv ,

  With held affection and the silent treatment sometimes for days.

  Alienated me from my kids .

  Wouldn't contribute to the household bills

  Being critical of almost anything I did and said

  Would say hateful things and mask them as a joke.

  Probably more, but that's enough for now.
